One with the Dark

It is sometimes asked in shadowy circles what the true face of Dras Von Talon is like. Many have guessed, none have seen, and even less have even come close to guessing it.

There are those who even believe that there is nothing behind it, the tyrant Lord of the West merely an empty, human shaped shell.

But there is mass to that towering form, and a force behind its' blows unparalleled in the world of Eternity's End.

And on dark nights, those who prowl the streets and shadows of the city with the rusted sky...they say that sometimes, out of the corner of your eye, perhaps a reflection in a piece of broken glass, a stray shadow cast by a flickering lamp...

They say there is something out there with them in the dark.

Something that surrounds them entirely, occupying every space around them, save for that which they can see before them. Something that lurks in the blindspots of any being's sight. It is everywhere they cannot see, and it is nowhere their eyes can reach. But in the same instinctual way prey knows there is something nearby, something which will devour them whole...they know it's there.

Always watching, always waiting, cold, ancient and eternal...the depths of deepest space, where no lights shine, there are only four evil stars burning in the cold. A poisonous, sickly yellow, alien and incomprehensible, those stars pulse dimly in the cold shadows, visible only for moments out of the corner of your eye.

No one in the West who has seen the light in the dark has any idea who...or rather WHAT it is exactly, that that horrific, uncaringly alien gaze belongs to...but there are those who ask another, more frightening question.

If it is there in the darkness with you, if those alien eyes are watching you even now, in the cold night of your own home...then why has nothing happened yet?

The thing they call the 'Man in The Dark'...if it is there already, if your defenses mean nothing to it, if your senses cannot keep track of iit, then the more frightening question is:

'What is it waiting for?'

...as the sun sinks through the rusted sky towards it's rest, the darkness of the West stirs anew.
